The number is how much pure gold is in the alloy: 10K is 41.7% gold and 14K is 58.3%. 14K has a richer colour and is slightly softer; 10K is harder and more affordable, which suits pieces worn daily. Both are solid gold, not plated. Read more about the different metals.

Put jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and sunscreen, take it off for swimming and cleaning products, and store pieces separately so they don’t scratch each other.
